Wyatt is loving being 4 months old. His life is changing rapidly, in Mommy's opinion. We are able to put him down more, and he isn't fussing to be picked right back up. He enjoys his bouncer and music toys. Miss Sandra, and the other daycare ladies, love giving him attention and helping him learn to entertain himself. Mommy and Daddy learn a lot from them. Anytime they send us a video of him entertaining himself during the day, we rush to get that toy from the store for our house. The most recent purchase, a little piano with lights, has been a lifesaver in the evenings.
We have introduced essential oils in the evenings, thanks to our great friend and neighbor, Stacy Kazee and NYR Organic. We diffuse the calming blend in the evenings, and we all seem to enjoy nighttime a bit better. We know now when he needs his bottle and is ready to go down for the night. Before, he fussed all evening long, but now he is pleasant in evenings until he is finally ready to go to bed. Daddy usually does the last feeding in the evenings, and Mommy reads a bible story out of some of the books we received as baby shower gifts. We are currently working through Little Boys Bible Storybook for Mothers and Sons.
We hired our first babysitter this past month. Mark and I went out to eat while a girl from our neighborhood came over to stay with him. He went down before she came over, so she never actual met Wyatt, but she met Scarlet, and Scarlet was a great host! I was glad she liked dogs, because I had forgotten to mention that when I was conversing with her about babysitting. Mark and I had a great time, and we talked mostly about Wyatt, but we didn't feel like we needed to rush back. We hope to do this regularly.
Wyatt went to his first birthday party this past month. Our amazing little friend, Molly Vincent, had her 4th birthday party. It was a superhero themed party, so all of us peas dressed as Batman's fan club. We had a great time, and Wyatt was in a good mood. We did have to get out of there before most of our friends left because we could see his mood changing. Know the signs = Know peace!
Two peas of the Batman fan club!
Finally, the most exciting part of month 4 has been - introducing solids! Mushy solids, but solids nonetheless. We have introduced peas (not so popular) and bananas (sweet, interesting, but still foreign). He mostly moves it around in his mouth and spits it out, but he's not completely refusing it. We are going to move to apples and carrots next.
First feeding - with a spoon
He is also almost exclusively bottle-fed now. Mommy doesn't really care for physically breastfeeding, but she doesn't mind pumping like a dairy cow, all day and all night if need be. The only time he is physically breastfed is if he wakes up in the middle of the night. Otherwise, we have to pump bottles for daycare anyway, why not just keep it going. I understand that I am so very lucky to be able to breastfeed, and not all mothers are that lucky. I am so happy that I can give my baby breast milk, so any way I can get it in him, then that is awesome in my mind. I just don't want to be the only one that can feed him. Plus, I think Marky enjoys being able to bond with him in that regard, especially at bedtime.
Second feeding - just play all in it buddy, no spoons needed
Wyatt is going to have a big month this coming month - his first Thanksgiving, trip to San Antonio, and weekend trip to the Ponderosa All-Inclusive (Grandmommy and Papaw's house) without Mommy and Daddy. Looking forward to the 5 Month Update!
